My Favorite CD

I saw an interview with a child who evacuated Ukraine saying that his father remained in Ukraine. The man who was a top tennis player a few weeks ago are fighting on the battle field now. There is a Ukrainian musician on Bandlab, where I usually upload my songs. He's a young guy who uploads really cool rock music. He recently posted a photo of himself in a soldier's uniform. He has been uploading a new song since then, so I think he is still safe. A while ago he was writing and uploading his cool songs and now he has to fight. I can't imagine myself being a soldier tomorrow. Not to mention that I can't be a soldier, I can't. I work, watch films, drink beer, listen to music and go to sleep. One day that routine will suddenly disappear. Such a thing is really happening now. As I write this, the war is still not going to end. I sincerely hope that by the time this text will be posted online, at least a ceasefire agreement will have been reached.

This time, I would like to introduce a song about soldiers. First of all, Lisa Ono's version of the theme song of a film about lovers torn apart by war.

「Les Parapluies de Cherbourg」Lisa Ono

Another song, not about soldiers, but about people torn apart. I used to sing this song at karaoke when I was a university student, but I am ashamed to say that I never understood the real meaning of this song and just got excited about it. If you told me it was a normal break-up song, well, I would agree with you as it is. But this song is a war song if you read it properly. The lyrics of this song are wonderful because this song writer did not express something as it is, but express it in a way that can be interpreted in various ways. Rimi Natsukawa's version by her wonderful voice. Her voices really soak into your heart and seem to be able to stop the war. PEACE.

「Island Songs」Rimi Natsukawa

This is the only one pop song I know that sings about the battlefield itself. Billy Joel was a very sophisticated and cool artist to me as a junior high school student. But Nylon Curtain was different and heavier. This song in particular was the heaviest.

"They ruled the night, and the night seemed to last as long as six weeks on Parris Island"

As a junior high school student, the sound of Six weeks and this sentence had a huge impact on me. The official video was also very strong. Please have a look.

「Goodnight Saigon」Billy Joel

Buffalo Soldiers brought in from Africa for the USA are somewhat dubbed Middle Eastern volunteer soldiers brought by Putin. Of course, this song is not just about war.

「Buffalo soldier」Bob Marley and The Wailers

Next a Bob Dylan song. This song is not a war song, but a lot of soldiers who are just pawns in their game are losing their lives today.

「Only a Pawn in Their Game」Bob Dylan

Two final songs. Songs about the lives of soldiers returning from the Vietnam War, "Sam Stone" is by John Prine and his version is excellent, but this time it's the soulful Al Kooper version.

「Sam Stone」Al Kooper

The final song is Bruce Springsteen's signature tune. It's so funny that former President Reagan used it during the election campaign because he thought it was a Hail America song. The photo on the cover shows his back standing in front of the US flag, and some people have said with a scowl that he's pissing on the flag. But I think Bruce loves America. I think he empathized with the young men who loved America and went to war for America. Ever since I heard this song in junior high school, this question has haunted me. What exactly is a country?

「Born in the USA」Bruce Springsteen

Finally, as usual, my song. I wrote this song inspired by the interview I wrote at the beginning of this article, a child who evacuated Ukraine says that his father stayed in Ukraine.

Only you Lyrics: KANEKO Chalin

Only you

I love you
Even if you won't be here for me tonight.
I love you
Even if tomorrow morning you will be on the flight
If I close my eyes, baby your smile come
Oh my sweetheart, I can still feel your lips and tongue
I hum

I love you
Even if I'm only one left and with no sound breathe
I love you
Even if I'm sleeping with gun in the freeze
If I close my eyes, baby your smile come
Oh my sweetheart, I can still feel your lips and tongue
I hum
I love you
Only you

I love you
Even if you are breast-feeding our dear son at a distance
I love you
Even if they kicked out with laughing my resistance
If I close my eyes, baby your smile come
Oh my sweetheart, I can still feel your lips and tongue
I hum

I love you
Even if you cannot find one of my bones
I love you
I will never let them drop on you only just one bomb
If I close my eyes, baby your smile come
Oh my sweetheart, I can still feel your lips and tongue
I hum
I love you
Only you

I love you
I will never let them drop on you only just one bomb
