Short narrative of a music lover Vol.8 The Band - Tears of Rage

The Band - Tears of Rage
KANEKO Chalin
My Favorite CD

I'm quite fond of the songs that artist who have been in legendary bands create when they are released from the band. The obsession to do something new, to not do the same thing as the last one becomes a curse, a curse that gnaws away at them and eventually they end up with nothing but a contrived, superficial kind of music, instead of the kind of music that comes from within them. When the curse is lifted, the joy of their soul and the relaxation of their heart to be able to just play the music they want to play naturally enriches their voice and their song. Today I'd like to introduce you to some of those songs.

Let's start with this song by Peter Gabriel, who was freed from Genesis.

This song has a very gentle introduction and is very pleasant to listen to, but the lyrics seem like a declaration of farewell to Genesis. In that sense, it's more of a statement of commitment than a joyful release from the band. I like the way Peter Gabriel sings this song, with a gentle melody and a will that rises up from it.

The next song is by Paul McCartney, who was freed from the greatest band of all time, in same meanings perhaps the most terrible pressure of all time, The Beatles. It's a bit of a departure from this time theme, as it was written some time after the Beatles broke up, but it's a song that seems to have come out of without consciousness, with no sense of duty to create something new.

「Silly Love Songs」Wings

The last part of this song, where all the melodies are layered one after the other, is always nice to hear.

Eric Clapton must have been under a lot of pressure, with the new improvisational play style, the tension between the band members, and situation as called "GOD". It was the songs of these men that saved Clapton. Their music saved rock and roll from more art style and reminded us of the people's songs that had been handed down from generation to generation too. I introduce now not a song that created by Clapton who was liberated from the band, but this song that liberated Clapton from the band.

「Tears of Rage」The Band

It's hard to believe that the guys in The Band were in their mid-twenties when they did this song.

Finally, a song by this man who also had too much to overcome. Brian Wilson's biggest curse must have been the unfinished “Smile”. Smile would later be completed, putting that aside for the moment this album is just natural Brian Wilson himself, and it's summer from the first song to the last! I'm sure Brian must have felt good about making this album.

「Your Imagination」Brian Wilson

The creative pressure is increasing. It's hard to breathe when you have to keep creating value. I write songs, I write texts, but I've never really wanted to create value. I just do it because it's fun. All of these songs are the result of an explosion of creativity of an artist enjoying a moment of freedom from such pressures. This last song of mine is about escaping those creative pressures. If you don't enjoy life to the fullest, there's no point in being creative or creating value!

Kaneko's Song of the Day

Run away from a parade Lyrics: Kaneko Chalin

Good morning Johnny
Can you hear little birds sing?
Good morning Bonnie
Can you feel sunshine ring?
May you stay among wonders of world

Hello Lemmy
Have you had enough mother’s cook?
Hello Amy,
Are you satisfied today how you look?
May you stay among wonders of world

So many books of works and questions
To you all they ask are answers and solutions
They make you afraid that world gives you terrible fright
and if you can't hardly try, if you can't survive, you will die

Run away
from parade
Library is full of books
Fun is overflowing in the woods
There are tons of movies to look

Run away
from parade
Let’s sing and drink over up late
Value will not be something we create,
It just will be here anyway

Good night Billy,
Can you hear DJ’s talk?
Good night Minnie,
Let’s go moonlight walk
May you stay among wonders of world

So many books of works and questions
To you all they ask are answers and solutions
They make you afraid that world gives you terrible fright
and if you can't hardly try, if you can't survive, you will die

Run away
from parade
Library is full of books
Fun is overflowing in the woods
There are tons of movies to look

Run away
from parade
Let’s sing and drink over up late
Value will not be something we create,
It just will be here anyway

Good morning Johnny
Can you hear little birds sing?
Good morning Bonnie
Can you feel sunshine ring and love?
